My main research areas are artificial intelligence and machine learning. In particular, I have been working on Neuro-Symbolic Learning, with the aim to combine neural and symbolic approaches. In fact, I am interested in developing methods that can exploit background knowledge of the domain of interest, and which, therefore, can be interpreted or explained by humans. This is a crucial need in order to obtain trustworthy and reliable artificial intelligence systems. Recently, I have also worked on many projects in the field of natural language processing, with applications in the legal and medical domains.
